Web Quest Project

I am developing a biographical web quest about Alexander Hamilton. He is a historical character of monumental significance to the United States of America.

The following standards will be covered,

Standard 1: Students compare the present with the past, evaluating the consequences of past events and decisions and determining the lessons that were learned.

Standard 2: Students analyze how change happens at different rates at different times; understand that some aspects can change while others remain the same; and understand that change is complicated and affects not only technology and politics but also values and beliefs.

In addition to these standards the following technology standards will be addressed,

NETS
STANDARDS
3. Research and Information Fluency
Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.

Students: locate, organize, analyze,
evaluate, synthesize, and ethically
use information from a variety of
Sources and media.

2. Communication and Collaboration
Students use digital media and work collaboratively, including at a environments to communicate and distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others. Students:
a. Interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts, or others employing a variety of digital environments and media.
d. contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems.

The final product that students will work on is a "Gossip/GQ magazine." Students will find out the information that they believe is hip, cool, and juicy about Alexander Hamilton. This at least brings to the students level and they can pretend what would happen if Alexander Hamilton was alive today and how he would be covered by the media magazines like Gentleman's Quarterly and Gossip.

Web Quest Project

I chose to create a web quest about Alexander Hamilton. He was the principle architect behind strengthening the federal government and his designs jettisoned the early American Republic on a path towards industrialization. This was contrary to Thomas Jefferson’s idea that the United States would be a country of farmers. I found Quest Garden to be a useful tool but wonder if there are some other alternatives besides it which do not cost any money. I would like to insert links onto my pictures so that my students could click on the picture and it would take the students to the link. I tried inserting the link onto the pictures but once I hit "applied," the link disappears. If any of you know how to do this I would be appreciative if you would share that knowledge with me.
